Planning a Kids Birthday Party

NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS THEME
Recently I had the pleasure to plan with my best friend her son's Justin 5th Birthday party. The fun part about it was that he is also a fan of Nightmare before Christmas so we decided to use that as the theme. There really isn't much decoration out there at stores like a Party City so we really needed to get Creative.

We were able to find party hats and little plastic goody bags on amazon. Click on the pictures on the side to purchase.

Jack the Skellington Goody Bags
&
Oogie Stuffed Party Favors

We decided to ask the guest to wear black and white, made Oogie gummy worm stuffed party favors, Jack the Skellington Goodie bags and our very own Nightmare Before Christmas Piñata. In this blog I will go step by step with each item we created at home just in case you all decided to plan such a cool kids party!

24 Jack the Skellington Goody Bags

Ingredients:
2 bags of white marshmallow (medium or large size)
24 Small square home made Brownies or you can purchase Little Debbies
1 Bag of Lollipop stick (ensure they are the thick ones not thin
24 Cellophane Candy Bags
                                                  24 Black ribbon pieces
1 Black Edible Marker

After you have all your ingredients set up a nice clean work space. Grab your Marshmallow these are going to be Jacks Heads so with the Edible Marker you will draw his face onto it. Now be creative and do different versions of Jack's face click here for samples.  Once done with faces put those aside and get your 24 brownies. Make sure you are working on a flat surface. Once you have place your brownie squares down grab your White chocolate covered pretzels and stack about 3 or 4 on top of the brownie. It will start to look like a little tower which is Jack's Skellington's body. You will than grab the lollipop sticks and insert them in any which hole of the pretzel down to the brownie base be sure the stick is not sticking out from the bottom of the brownie. This will secure the pretzels and brownies together. Next step is inserting the marshmallow heads onto the top of the stick and once again be sure you don't see the stick from the top. Woohoo! You now have created a Jack the Skellington out of all these goodies. Lastly insert each in a cellophane bag and wrap the piece of black ribbon around to seal in the moisture so that your goody bag stays fresh for the next day for the main event. Enjoy!

 24 Oogie Stuffed Party Favor

Ingredients:
24 Medium brown paper lunch bags
4-5 bags of Gummy Worms
Black Sharpie Fine Print
Glue Stick
Scissors
Pencil

Again have a clean work space to work with. You will need to take yourself back when you was a kid and get crafty. Using the Oogie picture as your guide draw your first Oogie onto one of the medium paper bag lunches (use the nice flat surface) once you draw your first mock up and cut it out you will need that to use as a guideline to cut out 47 more little Oogie's. Now remember you can't cut out the Oogie too small since your going to be stuffing these with gummy worms. Once you have all 48 Oogies put 24 on the side those are the backs. Take your sharpie marker and on the front of the Oogie draw his face and also the stitch marks close to the edge to look as if he was sewn together. Once done with that put the front and the backs together with the glue stick but remember to leave an opening big enough to sneak in a few worms. Once all are stuffed go back and glue stick that area you lefted open. Now you will have the cutest Oogie Stuffed Party Favors to give to your small guest.

I truly enjoyed every moment of this party and the final outcome was fantastic. The kids and the adults all had fun and that of coarse made us happy.

If you have created your own party ideas and would love to share please do. I hope that you enjoyed todays blog and I look forward to your comments.

Have a great evening and BE CREATIVE!!
